A RESOLUTION



Representative Dovilla 

Honoring the Olmsted Falls High School academic team as the 2012 Ohio Academic Competition State Champion.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to the Olmsted Falls High School academic team on placing first at the 2012 Ohio Academic Competition State Tournament; and

       WHEREAS,  Unsurpassed in knowledge, composure, and creativity, the Olmsted Falls High School academic team defeated a strong Northmont High School team by a score of 51-37 to win the 2012 OAC State Tournament, and its impressive finish signifies tremendous accomplishment. Under the pressures of competition, these young scholars rose to the occasion with a truly exceptional performance and it is not surprising that their efforts have won them a host of admirers, even among their most determined rivals; and 

       WHEREAS,  The members of the Olmsted Falls High School academic team have amply proven themselves to be innovative, articulate, and tenacious. Skillfully coached by Rhonna Smith and Joseph Galea, they are to be commended not only for their grasp of a formidable amount of challenging material but also for their poise, confidence, and mental agility. Throughout the event, members Sohan Vartak, Bradley Sevcik, Martin Mendenhall, and Nathan Seese displayed remarkable insight, ingenuity, and resolve. Their thorough preparation was evident at every point in the contest, and they merit praise for their triumph in the face of stiff opposition. To their credit, their genuine passion for learning and effective problem-solving has set a fine example for their peers; and

       WHEREAS,  The Ohio Academic Competition acknowledges academic excellence, showcases both individual and collective proficiency, fosters interest in a variety of scholastic pursuits, and promotes support among parents and other community members for the efforts of some of the state's most gifted and diligent students. Each stimulating intellectual exercise offers valuable lessons about concentration, self-discipline, and perseverance, and by mastering these, the members of the Olmsted Falls High School academic team have made many people very proud; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Olmsted Falls High School academic team for tremendous attainment and wish its members a bright, rewarding future; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Olmsted Falls High School academic team.
