A RESOLUTION
Honoring Ian Whitaker on receiving the Boy Scouts of America Heroism Medal.
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Ian Whitaker on being presented with a Heroism Medal from the Boy Scouts of America; and |
| WHEREAS, While visiting his grandparents in January 2010, Ian Whitaker heard a loud thud, and upon investigating, he found that his grandfather, Douglas Whitaker, had passed out in the kitchen and hit his head, causing an injury. Applying the first aid training he had learned as a Cub Scout, Ian put pressure on the wound, called 9-1-1, and cared for his grandfather while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive; and |
| WHEREAS, Thanks to Ian Whitaker's extraordinary vigilance and bravery, his grandfather, is alive and the noble spirit and strength of character that he exhibited under crisis conditions are truly heartening to recall. In helping another, he has clearly shown a sincere commitment to the highest ideals of community service; and |
| WHEREAS, Ian Whitaker's actions serve as a reminder that altruistic behavior is not a thing of the past but is a value that is demonstrated in daily life by individuals such as he. His unflinching composure during an emergency has identified him as a genuine hero; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Ian Whitaker as a truly selfless individual and pay tribute to him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Ian Whitaker. |
