Representative Beck 

Honoring the Mason High School marching band on being presented with the 2011 Sudler Shield by the John Philip Sousa Foundation.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Mason High School marching band on receiving the 2011 Sudler Shield from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; and

       WHEREAS,  Throughout long hours of practice and preparation, the members of the Mason High School marching band have displayed exceptional musical ability, remarkable confidence, and tremendous discipline, and consequently, they were presented with the 2011 Sudler Shield by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. Under the capable guidance of its director, Robert Bass, this talented group of young people has become known as one of the finest high school bands in the country, and it is deserving of high praise; and 

       WHEREAS,  Participation in a high school band provides a unique opportunity for students to develop their musical skills and to enjoy a special camaraderie while learning the true value of perseverance and cooperation. Over the years, the Mason High School marching band has excelled in its endeavors, and all those who have been involved with the program are to be commended for their exemplary performances; and

       WHEREAS,  Music is an integral component of our heritage, helping people to communicate across national, cultural, and social barriers, as well as uniting performers and audiences in a meaningful, shared experience. The members of the Mason High School marching band have imparted the richness and beauty of music to citizens throughout the area, and they have set an example worthy of emulation; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Mason High School marching band on its exemplary achievements and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Mason High School marching band.
