In memory of the Honorable Francis E. Sweeney, Sr.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the Honorable Francis E. Sweeney, Sr., on the sorrowful occasion of his death; and

       WHEREAS, Francis Sweeney's zealous love of life and his selfless concern for the welfare of others distinguished him as an outstanding human being and as a leading citizen. Elected as a justice of the Ohio Supreme Court in 1992 and serving until 2004, he held the posts of judge of the Eighth District Court of Appeals and the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court and an assistant prosecuting attorney for Cuyahoga County. In addition, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former professional football player and employee with the Allstate Insurance Company, and his exemplary career in public service serves as an inspriation for others; and 

       WHEREAS, A man of exceptional concern and insight, Francis Sweeney demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing his duties and fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. Giving willingly of his time, energy, and abilities far beyond what was required or expected, he displayed a genuine commitment to achieving his myriad goals in a skillful and professional manner, and he will long be remembered for his kindness and his steadfast devotion to service; and

       WHEREAS, Francis Sweeney's personal sacrifices of time and energy to his family, his friends, his community, and the State of Ohio will certainly live beyond him. The world is a richer place for his having been in it, and his vision and vitality will be remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved him, including his wife, Lee, his three children, Susan, Francis, and John, and his six grandchildren; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the memory of a truly remarkable man, the Honorable Francis E. Sweeney, Sr.; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of the Honorable Francis E. Sweeney, Sr.
