A RESOLUTION | Honoring Maggie Feng as a silver medalist at the 2012 Pan-American Youth Chess Championship. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Maggie Feng on winning a silver medal in the girls under 12 division at the 2012 Pan-American Youth Chess Championship; and |
| WHEREAS, A sixth-grade student at Grizzell Middle School, Maggie Feng has striven to develop her prowess in the game of chess, and as a result, she won second place in the girls under 12 division of this year's Pan-American Youth Chess Championship. She can be proud of her outstanding record of achievement, her exceptional determination, and her tremendous skill, and we applaud her on her efforts; and |
| WHEREAS, In preparing herself for competition, Maggie Feng has acquired abilities that will be of great benefit to her throughout her life. Participation in an activity such as chess provides an opportunity for youth to strive for excellence, and she has admirably succeeded; and |
| WHEREAS, Maggie Feng's accomplishment is a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection not only on her but also on her family, her instructors, and her community. Without question, she has exhibited a sincere desire to fully develop her talents so that she might fulfill her goals in the future, and this, coupled with her maturity and initiative, shows her potential to become one of tomorrow's leaders; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Maggie Feng as a top international chess player and salute her as one of Ohio's finest young citizens; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Maggie Feng. |
