A RESOLUTION
Honoring Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut on his exemplary service to the State of Ohio.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Eric D. Fingerhut on his innumerable contributions as chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents; and

       WHEREAS,  Eric Fingerhut has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing his duties and fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. Among his endeavors, he worked as an attorney in the Older Person's Law Office of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland and in the law firm of Hahn, Loeser, and Parks and served as the associate director of Cleveland Works, a senior fellow at the Center for Community Solutions, director of economic development education and entrepreneurship at Baldwin-Wallace College, a senior lecturer at Case Western Reserve University, and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 1994 and the Ohio Senate from 1991 to 1992 and 1999 to 2006 before he was appointed chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents in 2007; and

       WHEREAS,  As the seventh chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, Eric Fingerhut has given freely of his time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to attaining the goals of the agency in a skillful and professional manner. During his tenure, the percentage of Ohio residents who hold a college degree has increased, as has the percentage of those who specialize in science and mathematics, the cost of tuition at state-supported colleges has fallen below the national average, and educational initiatives have targeted job creation in a knowledge-based economy; and

       WHEREAS,  Eric Fingerhut has shown enthusiasm and generosity in his endeavors, earning him the respect and admiration of many. Without question, he can be satisfied to know that he has provided a valuable service to the state and has established a record of achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Eric D. Fingerhut on his record of service and extend best wishes for health and happiness; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Eric D. Fingerhut.
