A RESOLUTION | Honoring Tom Postema as a 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Champion. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Tom Postema on winning the hammer throw title at the 2013 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship; and |
| WHEREAS, A senior at Defiance College, Tom Postema has successfully combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish himself as a truly exceptional young athlete. With admirable dedication, he has worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in throwing, and as a result, he achieved a toss of 64.67 meters to win this year's hammer throw crown at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship; and |
| WHEREAS, Tom Postema's accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of athletic competition, are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection not only on him but also on his family, his teammates, his coach, John Hartpence, his school, and his community. His unwavering commitment to excellence has earned him the respect and esteem of many, and he is certainly deserving of high praise; and |
| WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to Tom Postema on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same maturity and experience he has gained through his participation in track and field will greatly aid him in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Tom Postema on his personal success and salute him as one of Ohio's finest athletes; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Tom Postema. |
