A RESOLUTION | Honoring Olivia Smith as a 2013 Division III State Track and Field Champion. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Olivia Smith on placing first in the 800-meter run at the 2013 Division III State Track and Field Championships; and |
| WHEREAS, A diligent and capable individual, Olivia Smith is deserving of acknowledgement for her exemplary accomplishments as a runner at Calvert High School. An exceptional athlete, she won first place in the 800-meter run at this year's Division III State Track and Field Championships, her second consecutive crown, and her noteworthy record of personal accomplishment stands as a hallmark for others to emulate; and |
| WHEREAS, Through her participation in sports, Olivia Smith has learned important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her throughout her life. Through her outstanding efforts, she has inspired countless individuals to excel in various areas of endeavor, and she has set an example worthy of the highest praise; and |
| WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. Olivia Smith has certainly inspired her teammates, thrilled her fans, gained the respect of her opponents, and made her coach, Stewart Behm, and family very proud; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Olivia Smith on her track and field success and extend best wishes for the years to come; and be it further |
