A RESOLUTION
In memory of Arnold R. Pinkney.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Arnold R. Pinkney and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends; and

       WHEREAS,  Arnold Pinkney's zealous love of life and his selfless concern for the welfare of others distinguished him as an outstanding human being and as a leading citizen. Commencing his career in the insurance industry at Great Lakes Mutual Life Insurance, he became the Prudential Life Insurance Company's first African-American million dollar sales producer, and he served as a partner at the Pinkney-Perry Insurance Agency, Inc., before co-founding Betpin and Associates, Inc., with his wife, Betty T. Pinkney, in 1995. In addition, he served as a member of the City of Cleveland School Board, the Central State University and Kym Sellers Foundation boards of trustees, and Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, and he was a political strategist and civil rights activist who helped manage the campaigns of such political figures as Louis Stokes, the first African-American congressman from the State of Ohio, Carl Stokes, the first African-American mayor of a major American city, and Richard F. Celeste, governor of Ohio; and 

       WHEREAS,  Arnold Pinkney's exceptional record of success stands as a hallmark worthy of emulation, and he has inspired countless people to excel in various areas of endeavor. The respect and admiration he earned throughout his life are clearly evident, and his accomplishments and leadership serve as a justifiable source of pride for his family and many friends; and

       WHEREAS,  Arnold Pinkney's personal and professional achievements will certainly live beyond him. The warmth and understanding he so readily extended to others will stand as a testament to his personal character, and he will be remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved him; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret at the death of Arnold R. Pinkney; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Arnold R. Pinkney.
