A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Copley High School Blade Runners on winning the 2014 National KidWind turbine competition.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Copley High School Blade Runners on placing first in the National KidWind turbine competition at the 2014 USA Science and Engineering Festival; and

       WHEREAS,  All those associated with the Copley High School Blade Runners are deserving of praise for their ability to excel in many pursuits and to meet challenges with enthusiasm and confidence. Under the leadership of their mentor, Kirby Harder, team members Katie Casida, Chav Maharaj, Peyton Flasco, Ben Evankovich, Thomas Kimmons, Collin Miller, and Josh Meyers devoted countless hours to designing, constructing, documenting, and testing a small-scale wind turbine, and consequently, their project won first-place honors and set a world record for the highest wind turbine output ever recorded with 153.4 joules at the this year's National KidWind turbine competition; and 

       WHEREAS,   Competitive spirit and innovative effort have played major roles in the development of our country. The drive to excel is best instilled when youth are presented with trials that permit them to test their skills, knowledge, and strengths against their peers; and

       WHEREAS,  With their vitality, intelligence, and positive outlook, the members of the Copley High School Blade Runners have set an example worthy of emulation. We encourage these young individuals to continue to strive for excellence so that they may assume a meaningful and productive role in our complex society; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Copley High School Blade Runners on this accomplishment and salute the members and instructor as fine Ohioans; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Copley High School Blade Runners.
