A RESOLUTION | Honoring the Sylvania Southview High School Mock Trial team on winning the 2014 State Championship. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Sylvania Southview High School Mock Trial team as the 2014 State Champion; and |
| WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education, the Ohio Mock Trial competition is a demanding activity involving countless hours of preparation and exceptional speaking skills. Only the most dedicated, intelligent, and mature students succeed in the challenge of this competition by winning eight total trials and preparing both plaintiff and defense cases. The Sylvania Southview High School Mock Trial team's success at this year's Ohio High School Mock Trial State Championship is evidence that each team member does, indeed, possess these commendable attributes; and |
| WHEREAS, Under the guidance of its head coach, Dennis Lyle, and its assistant coaches, Vicki Lyle, Tony Turley, Dan Ellis, and Fritz Byers, team members Yuran Chen, Catherine Dong, Shaleen Goel, Zach Poczekaj, Ridwhan Sediqe, and Eric Zhu have amply displayed their command of the legal process, and by winning this year's state championship, they qualified for the national tournament, where they placed third. These young scholars devoted countless hours to rigorous training in order to be in peak mental condition, and under the pressures of competition, they rose to the occasion admirably; and |
| WHEREAS, The Sylvania Southview High School Mock Trial team's mental astuteness and genuine passion for learning have set a fine example. It is not surprising that its victories have won the members a host of admirers, even among their most determined rivals; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Sylvania Southview High School Mock Trial team on its outstanding achievements and applaud all those who have aided in its success; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Sylvania Southview High School Mock Trial team. |
