A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION | To urge the Congress of the United States to repeal
the federal ban on sports wagering.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING):
WHEREAS, Since January 1, 1993, the federal "Professional and
Amateur Sports Protection Act," 28 U.S.C. 3701 et seq., has
prohibited states from authorizing sports wagering; and |
WHEREAS, Under the terms of the federal law, sports wagering
is legally permitted in states in which it was legally permitted
before the enactment of the Act; and |
WHEREAS, The State of Ohio would like to see an end to the
federal ban to allow sports wagering at casinos in Ohio; now
therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That the Congress of the United States is urged to
repeal the federal ban on sports wagering; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly
authenticated copies of this resolution to the President of the
United States, to the President Pro Tempore and Secretary of the
United States Senate, to the Speaker and the Clerk of the United
States House of Representatives, to the members of the Ohio
Congressional delegation, and to the news media of Ohio. |
