A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION | To urge specific electric and gas utilities in Ohio
to provide individualized energy usage information
to each of its residential customers.
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING):
WHEREAS, Residential energy customers should have access to
individualized and confidential energy usage information in order
to realize ways to reduce their energy costs and consumption; now
therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly
of the State of Ohio, urge each electric distribution utility,
natural gas company, municipal utility, governmental aggregator,
and cooperative in Ohio to adopt industry best practices by
providing a report to each customer with each of the customer's
bills that contains the following information: |
(A) How the customer's home energy usage compares to the
energy usage of other anonymous customers in homes of similar age
and size in the customer's neighborhood and to the energy usage of
the most efficient of these customers; |
(B) How the customer's energy usage has changed each month
over the previous twelve months; |
(C) Educational information on ways to reduce energy costs;
and be it further |
RESOLVED, That electric and gas customers be provided the
opportunity to opt-out of receiving the individualized energy
usage and educational information report; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly
authenticated copies of this resolution to each electric
distribution utility, natural gas company, municipal utility,
governmental aggregator, and cooperative in Ohio, and to the news
media of Ohio. |
