A RESOLUTION | Honoring Sarah Kanney on winning the 2013 Division II State Championship in the 1,600-meter run. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Sarah Kanney as the 2013 Division II State Champion in the 1,600-meter run; and |
| WHEREAS, A diligent and capable individual, Sarah Kanney is deserving of recognition for her exemplary accomplishments as a sophomore member of the Coldwater High School girls track and field team. An exceptional athlete, she won first place in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:55.26 and third place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.75 at this year's Division II State Meet, and her noteworthy record of personal achievement stands as a hallmark for others to emulate; and |
| WHEREAS, Through her participation in sports, Sarah Kanney has learned important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her throughout her life. Through her outstanding efforts, she has inspired countless people to excel in various areas of endeavor, and she has set an example worthy of the highest praise; and |
| WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. With sports playing such an important part in the development of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to such a tremendous athlete as Sarah Kanney; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Sarah Kanney on her Division II State Championship and salute her as one of Ohio's finest young citizens; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Sarah Kanney. |
