A RESOLUTION | Honoring Deborah Withem as the 2013-2014 CEA-O Teacher of the Year. |
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Deborah Withem on being named the 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year by the Correctional Education Association of Ohio; and |
WHEREAS, Selection for this prestigious distinction is an honor of which Deborah Withem can be proud, for she has been recognized for her exceptional skill, commitment, and professionalism. A literacy teacher at the Southeastern Correctional Complex Hilltop School since 2004, she is a member of several school committees and the SCC/Hocking Black History and Hispanic Heritage Planning Committees, as well as the regional hostage negotiation team. In addition, she has participated in numerous statewide workshops and trainings, and she has served on the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Short Term Offender Program Planning and Offender Led Programming committees; and |
WHEREAS, Over the years, Deborah Withem has striven to channel the natural energy and curiosity of students into meaningful inquiry, thereby helping them gain a better understanding of the complex world around them. By presenting lessons in an interesting and comprehensible manner, she has consistently inspired her pupils to excel, and she has certainly distinguished herself as a conscientious and hard-working Ohioan; and |
WHEREAS, Throughout her career in the field of education, Deborah Withem has supported countless students in their scholastic endeavors and has helped to nurture within them a desire for academic excellence. She has earned the respect and gratitude of her colleagues, her community, and, most importantly, her students for her genuine love of teaching, and she is certainly deserving of high praise; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Deborah Withem on her recent accolade and salute her as one of Ohio's finest educators; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Deborah Withem. |
