A RESOLUTION | Honoring Shane Smith on receiving a 2013 Shield of Bravery. |
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Shane Smith on being presented with a 2013 Shield of Bravery by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and |
WHEREAS, A deputy with the Summit County Sheriff's Office and SWAT team, Shane Smith is, indeed, a remarkable individual, for he demonstrated a presence of mind and degree of bravery of which he can be proud. While serving with the FBI-led Greater Akron Safe Streets Task Force, he participated in a drug sting operation in June 2012, and despite coming under fire, he succeeded in apprehending the suspect; and |
WHEREAS, It is due to the quick thinking and immediate action of Shane Smith that a dangerous criminal was taken into custody. He is to be commended for his skill and courage, for his exemplary actions serve as a reminder that heroic behavior is not a thing of the past but is instead a value that is displayed in daily life by people such as he; and |
WHEREAS, Shane Smith is deserving of the highest praise for the courageous behavior by which he has distinguished himself as a truly brave and responsible individual. He has shown that he possesses a deep concern for the well-being of others, and at a time when many are content to take a passive role in life, he has willingly involved himself in a vocation in which he has risked his own safety in order to protect the lives of area citizens. He has justifiably earned the respect and admiration of his family, co-workers, and the entire community; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, honor Shane Smith for bravey and in so doing, salute him as an outstanding Ohio citizen; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Shane Smith. |
