A RESOLUTION | Honoring the National FFA Organization during the 2014 National FFA Week. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the National FFA Organization on its observance of National FFA Week, February 15-22, 2014; and |
| WHEREAS, In 1947, the National FFA Organization designated the week of George Washington's birthday, February 22, to celebrate National FFA Week, running from Saturday to Saturday. This week provides members, advisors, alumni, and sponsors with an opportunity to educate the public about agriculture and FFA, and its chapters will conduct various activities at the local, state, and national levels for this purpose; and |
| WHEREAS, FFA and agricultural education help prepare young people for career opportunities in the food, fiber, and natural resources industries by developing their potential for leadership and personal growth while promoting citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism, and cooperation. Indeed, FFA can be depended upon to produce a sizable number of qualified young professionals who are ready to assume key roles in our society; and |
| WHEREAS, Today, there are more than half a million student members of FFA in more than seven thousand local chapters in all fifty states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. National FFA Week will certainly help them ignite their passion for agriculture in others; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize the National FFA Organization during the 2014 National FFA Week and salute all those taking part in this memorable celebration; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the National FFA Organization. |
