A RESOLUTION
To encourage local community emergency response teams to incorporate training for agricultural emergencies and disasters in their training programs.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

WHEREAS, The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities; and

WHEREAS, When emergencies happen, CERT members offer critical support to first responders by providing immediate assistance to victims and organizing volunteers at a disaster site. Additionally, CERT members also can help with nonemergency projects that improve the safety of their communities; and

WHEREAS, As urban areas extend more into agricultural areas, it is critical that CERT members become familiar with responding to agricultural emergencies and disasters; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of the State of Ohio, encourage local community emergency response teams to incorporate training for agricultural emergencies and disasters in their training programs; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate send duly authenticated copies of this resolution to leaders of the local Community Emergency Response Teams in Ohio and to the news media of Ohio.
