A RESOLUTION | Honoring Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton on her retirement. |
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to the Honorable Evelyn Lundberg Stratton on the memorable occasion of her retirement from the Supreme Court of Ohio; and |
WHEREAS, Known and respected throughout the state for her integrity and ability, Evelyn Lundberg Stratton has distinguished herself as a responsible public servant and a concerned community leader. Previously serving as a trial lawyer in Central Ohio and as a judge of the Franklin County Common Pleas Court, she was appointed to the Supreme Court of Ohio in 1996, where she is currently in her third term, and during her tenure, she has held the post of associate justice and created the Advisory Committee on Mental Illness and the Courts. In addition, she is a co-founder and former co-chair of the Judges' Leadership Initiative, and she has received numerous honors and awards, including the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Throughout her exemplary service on the bench, she has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing her duties and fulfilling her responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence, and she has displayed a genuine commitment to attaining the goals of the court in a skillful and professional manner; and |
WHEREAS, Evelyn Lundberg Stratton's keen knowledge of the law and her unfaltering devotion to the legal profession have been vital factors in her success. She has brought to the bench dignity and determination, tempered with wisdom and understanding, and she has earned the esteem and admiration of her colleagues and associates, as well as of the residents of Ohio; and |
WHEREAS, Evelyn Lundberg Stratton is a remarkable individual, combining civic concern with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the state. As she retires, she has the satisfaction of knowing that she has provided a valuable service to the public and has established a record of achievement worthy of emulation; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton on her retirement and salute her as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Honorable Evelyn Lundberg Stratton. |
