A RESOLUTION | Honoring Stanislas Jean-Marie Wielezynski as a Knight of the National Order of Merit. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Stanislas Jean-Marie Wielezynski on being presented with the National Order of Merit by the French government; and |
| WHEREAS, One of France's highest honors, the National Order of Merit confers the gratitude and appreciation of the French government, and it carries the rank of knight. This noteworthy distinction has been accorded to Stan Wielezynski for closing his restaurant, La Chatelaine French Bistro and Bakery, on June 6 each year since 1994 to host a party for American military veterans who landed at Normandy on D-Day in the liberation of France during World War II, and the celebration has expanded to include all U.S. armed forces veterans. In addition, he works with a local middle school to teach students about the importance of D-Day and all of World War II, and he also financed a trip to France for a U.S. Army veteran who took part in the invasion; and |
| WHEREAS, It is imperative that we openly acknowledge our debt to those who bore our country's standard with courage, dignity, and decency through their military service, and Stan Wielezynski has become one of their most dynamic advocates. He has expended countless hours and seemingly inexhaustible energy in the interest of others, and he is worthy of recognition; and |
| WHEREAS, Demonstrating a sincere appreciation for the past and concern for the future, Stan Wielezynski has given back to the community far more than he has gleaned, and his selfless endeavors stand as the hallmark of responsible citizenship. It is through the unsurpassed efforts and consistent support of conscientious individuals such as he that our state has remained a pleasant place in which to live; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Stanislas Jean-Marie Wielezynski on receiving the French National Order of Merit and extend best wishes for the years to come; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Stanislas Jean-Marie Wielezynski. |
