A RESOLUTION | Honoring The Ohio State University football team on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate The Ohio State University football team on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary; and |
| WHEREAS, Throughout the past one hundred twenty-five years, student athletes at The Ohio State University have combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish a truly exceptional football program. Indeed, the maturity and experience that these young people have gained through their participation in sports has greatly aided them in meeting the challenges of the future; and |
| WHEREAS, The Ohio State University can be justly proud of the success of its football program. The Buckeyes played their first gridiron game on May 3, 1890, in Delaware versus Ohio Wesleyan University, and since that time, they have compiled seven national championships, thirty-six conference titles, and ten undefeated seasons; and |
| WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable tool. By taking part in sports, the participants in The Ohio State University football program have learned lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that have undoubtedly been of great benefit to them throughout their lives; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend The Ohio State University football team on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to The Ohio State University football team. |
