A BILL
To amend section 5903.10 of the Revised Code to require a licensing agency to grant renewal of a professional license or certificate to a member of the uniformed services whose license or certificate has expired because of the member's service.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 5903.10 of the Revised Code be amended to read as follows:
Sec. 5903.10. Any As used in this section "uniformed services" and "service in the uniformed services" have the same meanings as in section 5903.01 of the Revised Code.
Any holder of an expired license or certificate from this state
or any political subdivision or agency of the state to practice a trade or
profession, whose license or certificate was not renewed because of his
the holder's
service
in the armed forces of the United States uniformed services, shall, upon presentation of
satisfactory evidence of honorable discharge or separation under honorable
conditions therefrom within six months of such discharge, be granted a renewal
of said license or certificate by the issuing board or authority at the usual
cost without penalty and without re-examination if not otherwise disqualified
because of mental or physical disability.
If a holder continues to serve in the uniformed services, the holder shall apply for renewal not later than ninety days after completion of the service that interfered with renewal of the license or certificate. If a holder has been discharged or separated from the uniformed services, the holder shall apply for renewal by presenting satisfactory evidence of honorable discharge or separation under honorable conditions not later than six months after the discharge or separation.
Section 2. That existing section 5903.10 of the Revised Code is hereby repealed.
