A BILL
To enact section 3701.136 of the Revised Code to
create the Xeroderma Pigmentosum Research
Commission.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 3701.136 of the Revised Code be
enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 3701.136. (A) There is hereby created the xeroderma
pigmentosum research commission consisting of members appointed by
the director of health. Members shall include researchers, health
care professionals, and persons personally affected by the
disease.
(B) Not later than ninety days after the effective date of
this section, the director shall make initial appointments to the
commission. Terms
of office shall be three years, with each term
ending on the same
day of the same month as did the term that it
succeeds. Each
member shall hold office from the date of
appointment until the
end of the term for which the member was
appointed. Members may be
reappointed.
Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as original
appointments. Any member appointed to fill a vacancy occurring
prior to the expiration of the term for which the member's
predecessor was appointed shall hold office for the remainder of
that term. A member shall continue in office subsequent to the
expiration date of the member's term until the member's successor
takes office or until a period of sixty days has elapsed,
whichever occurs first.
(C) The commission shall annually select from among its
members a chairperson. The commission shall meet at the call of
the
chair, but not less than twice each year. A majority of the
members constitutes a quorum.
(D) Members shall serve without
compensation, but may be
reimbursed for actual and necessary
expenses incurred in the
performance of their duties.
(E) The commission shall assist the director of health and
research community in seeking a cure for xeroderma pigmentosum.
