BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 3701.136 of the Revised Code be enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 3701.136.  (A) There is hereby created the xeroderma pigmentosum research commission consisting of members appointed by the director of health. Members shall include researchers, health care professionals, and persons personally affected by the disease.
(B) Not later than ninety days after the effective date of this section, the director shall make initial appointments to the commission. A member shall continue in office subsequent to the expiration date of the member's term until the member's successor takes office or until a period of sixty days has elapsed, whichever occurs first.
(C) The commission shall annually select from among its members a chairperson. The commission shall meet at the call of the chair, but not less than twice each year. A majority of the members constitutes a quorum.
(D) Members shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.
(E) The commission shall assist the director of health and research community in seeking a cure for xeroderma pigmentosum.
