A BILL
To create the Gender Pay Disparity Task Force.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. (A) There is hereby created the Gender Pay
Disparity Task Force consisting of the following members:
(1) A member of the House of Representatives appointed by the
Speaker of the House of Representatives;
(2) A member of the House of Representatives appointed by the
Minority Leader of the House of Representatives;
(3) A member of the Senate appointed by the President of the
Senate;
(4) A member of the Senate appointed by the Minority Leader
of the Senate;
(5) A member who is licensed to practice law in the state and
who specializes in the field of labor law appointed by the
Governor;
(6) A member who represents business interests appointed by
the Governor;
(7) A member who represents Ohio women's organizations
appointed by the Governor.
(B) At least four members of the Task Force shall be women.
(C) Members of the Task Force shall be appointed not later
than thirty days after the effective date of this section. Any
vacancy in the membership of the Task Force shall be filled in the
same manner as the original appointment. Members of the Task Force
shall serve without compensation. The staff of the Legislative
Service Commission shall provide technical and administrative
support as needed by the Task Force.
(D) The Task Force shall hold its initial meeting not later
than thirty days after the last member of the Task Force is
appointed. The Task Force shall elect a chairperson during the
initial meeting of the Task Force. All subsequent meetings of the
Task Force shall be held at the call of the chairperson.
(E) The Task Force shall do all of the following:
(1) Determine the extent of the pay disparity between men and
women in Ohio;
(2) Identify the causes of such disparity;
(3) Develop recommendations for legislative action to
decrease the pay disparity between men and women in Ohio;
(4) Not later than six months after the effective date of
this section, issue a report of its findings and recommendations
to the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of
the House of Representatives.
(F) Upon issuance of the report described in division (E)(4)
of this section, the Task Force shall cease to exist.
