A BILL
To enact section 5902.10 of the Revised Code to require the Director of Veterans Services to notify the Governor when an Ohio resident who is a member of the armed forces has been killed by hostile fire, and to require the Governor to order state and subdivision flags to be flown at half-staff on the day of the individual's funeral. .

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1.  That section 5902.10 of the Revised Code be enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 5902.10.  The director of veterans services shall notify the governor whenever the director becomes aware that an Ohio resident who is a member of the armed forces of the United States or the national guard has been killed by hostile fire. Upon receipt of such a notice, the governor shall order that the United States flag, the state flag, and any relevant military flag be flown at half-staff on the day of the service member's funeral at the statehouse and at any other state building, facility, or installation otherwise displaying such a flag and at the courthouse or principal government building and any other building, facility, or installation of any political subdivision otherwise displaying such a flag.
