A BILL
To enact section 3345.46 of the Revised Code to
prohibit state institutions of higher education
from charging overload fees to students enrolled
in not more than eighteen credit hours of courses
per semester.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 3345.46 of the Revised Code be
enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 3345.46. (A) As used in this section:
(1) "Full course load" shall be defined by the board of
trustees of each state institution of higher education.
(2) "Overload fee" means a fee or increased tuition rate
charged to students who enroll in courses for a total number of
credit hours in excess of a full course load.
(3) "State institution of higher education" has the same
meaning as in section 3345.011 of the Revised Code.
(B) No state institution of higher education shall charge an
overload fee to any student, so long as that student is enrolled
in not more than eighteen credit hours of courses per semester, or
the equivalent number of credit hours per quarter as determined by
the board of trustees of the institution.
