A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To designate the week including September 11 and September 17 each year as Patriot Week to encourage Ohioans to renew their appreciation of and reverence for the United States.


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE SENATE CONCURRING):


       WHEREAS, Focus on the founding principles and shared history of the United States will renew the spirit of its people; and

       WHEREAS, Celebration of the founding fathers and other patriots of the United States will exalt its people; and

       WHEREAS, Reverence for documents vital to the creation of the United States will encourage its people; and

       WHEREAS, Remembrance of influential speeches that helped to mold the United States will inspire its people; and

       WHEREAS, Recognizing flags of United States history that signify principles and values dear to the United States will motivate its people; and

       WHEREAS, The anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11 and the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States on September 17 remind us that the founding principles of this nation will always and forever be relevant to its people, and will serve as the anchors of Patriot Week; now therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That the General Assembly designates the week including September 11 and September 17 each year as Patriot Week to encourage Ohioans to renew their appreciation of and reverence for the United States; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the General Assembly, encourages public and private entities in this state to recognize and participate in Patriot Week; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the Governor and to the news media of Ohio.
